The Bible: The Big Picture

The Bible, consisting of 66 books, divided into two Testaments (Old and New) is the Word of God. In Peter’s second letter he writes, “for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit” (). Over a time period of around 1,500 years by about forty different authors on three different continents (Asia, Europe and Africa), in three different languages (Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek) the Word of God was written. However, the ultimate source of the Bible is God. Unlike any other document in this world, the Scriptures originate with God, thus making them His Word.
